After years of speculation, it’s official: King of the Hill is making its comeback in a reboot that brings back much of the original cast while introducing fresh twists to the iconic animated sitcom.
The beloved series, created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, is returning under the Hulu Originals banner. This revival aims to reintroduce audiences to the quirky King of the Hill family and their neighbors in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas, while updating the storyline to reflect the passage of time. Bobby Hill is now a grown adult navigating his own world, and fan-favorite characters like Hank Hill remain front and center with their timeless charm.
One of the biggest updates involves the casting of Toby Huss, who will step into the role of Dale Gribble—a character made famous by the late Johnny Hardwick. Huss is expected to maintain the essence of the conspiracy-loving exterminator while giving him a subtle modern edge.
The showrunners promise a blend of nostalgic callbacks and fresh commentary. Judge and Daniels have teased that the reboot will tackle current issues such as social media culture, generational gaps, and the changing political landscape of small-town America—all through the same deadpan lens that made the original show a cult favorite.
Mike Judge will again voice Hank Hill, while Pamela Adlon reprises her role as Bobby. Kathy Najimy and Stephen Root also return, completing the classic Hill family dynamic.
